The "Flat People" have begun their adventures in the stead of their "real" counterparts who are hard at work here at school!
Their first adventure took them out of state as they accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Frink to the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico last weekend. They went to the field to watch the ballons take off and also helped the Frink's set up at the art show in which Mr. Frink participated. In addition to that, they enjoyed a Chinese buffet for dinner in the evening after the hard work was over. (When asked if Mrs. Frink could afford to feed all those extra people, she simply replied, "Flat People don't eat that much."

The Story Behind the "Flat People"

Last Spring, Mrs. Frink's class saw an article in the paper about a 4th grade class who "visited" places around the world via their look-alike "Flat People". The students asked if they could do it. Since it was so late in the year, it was decided that those who wished to participate could draw themselves and those "Flat People" could go to the art shows with Mr. and Mrs. Frink last May and through the summer.

It was exciting and a lot of fun to see where they would go and what they would do while they were there!

When Mrs. Frink changed schools this year, the "Flat People" had to make a re-appearance! So we hope you will become a regular reader of the "Adventures of the Flat People" and learn along with us a little geography, science (the Flat People plan to help the Frinks make soap), and history (they will even go "Back in Time" with us to the colonial era in the history of the United States)!

Come join us!

Along the Santa Fe Trail.....

The Flat People were on their way to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque when they just had to stop along the "Old Santa Fe Trail" to take a break. (Note in the FAR distance, you can almost see Santa Fe.)

Also note that "Esteven" is with them - he has not gotten lost! (Although Mr. and Mrs. Frink DID do a head count every time the Flat People got out of their envelope!)

The Flat People at the Art Show

The Flat People had a chance to put in their two cents when it came to how to set up the Aspen Grove booth. They had it arranged well so they were able to slip in and our among the bowls and lamps and talk to the customers!

Note the welcoming smiles on their faces. Could that be why Mr. Frink sold some of these very same items during the weekend??

Wrapping the Artwork

The Flat People are not just another "bunch of pretty faces". They were a big help when it came to wrapping the sold items in the booth! Each one took a part and in no time, the job was done!!

"Girls Will Be Girls"

...And what do girls do best?? Shop for jewelry, of course! Helene Cooper, owner of Studio Nine Thousand Silverworks and silver jewelry designer from Las Vegas, Nevada, showed her new newest creations to the girls after they tried on numerous pieces of jewelry. Note the beautiful pendant necklaces each girl is wearing (especially custom designed for 6"-9" female Flat People)!

Playing Hide-and-Seek In the Metal

The Flat People were able to convince Lonn, the owner of Aspen Creek Designs of Divide, Colorado, to let them play among the rustic metal wall hangings that he creates. Once again, careful count was taken to ensure that all ten Flat People were returned to their "flat" home!

Harder to Hide!

Mrs. Frink tried to play the game with the "kids", but she is much harder to hide that they are! (They were very kind to her, though, and didn't make any comments!!)
